Wandsworth Annual BME Mental Health conference

Starting in 2009, working alongside the New Testament Assembly Church in Tooting, WCEN began hosting annual Conferences named ‘Healing our Broken Village’ that sought to bring together people with public agency leaders and other stakeholders, including artists, performers, community leaders and researchers, to hold collective conversations on how to address BAME mental health inequalities through shared dialogue and coproduction.

Wandsworth bi-monthly BME Mental Health forum

The Wandsworth BME Mental Health Forum was established in 2010 with the aim of addressing inequalities across our mental health systems by re-orientating our approaches towards community-centred solutions. Out aim is to tailor and coproduce services that are culturally sensitive and appropriate for the BME Community.

Black minds matter

Wandsworth BME youth programme

In 2018, we established Black Minds Matter. We did this to change the narrative about black communities, and to celebrate their lives, their ambitions and their dreams. Black Minds Matter.  Our work has included providing mentors for young people to guide them towards the careers they would like, culturally-adapted early intervention and prevention work in schools, youth clubs and faith groups, and supporting them to access mental health support and well being services.
